Cookie Policy
Effective date: 1 November 2026 • Compliant with UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) & UK GDPR
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, smartphone, or tablet when you visit websites. They are widely used across the internet to ensure websites function properly, operate more efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide analytical reporting to website operators.
At Verified Solar UK (verifiedsolar.uk), we believe in complete transparency. We do not use intrusive spyware or covert tracking mechanisms. This policy explains what cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage or delete them at any time.
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
A. Strictly Necessary & Security Cookies
Always ActiveThese cookies are indispensable for our website to operate securely. They enable core security features provided by our global Content Delivery Network (Cloudflare), such as DDoS defense, rate limiting, bot protection, and load balancing. Without these technical cookies, the site cannot function securely. Under UK PECR, these cookies do not require prior consent.
__cf_bm, cf_clearance (Cloudflare edge security & bot verification).B. Functional Storage & Calculator Preferences
First-PartyWhen you interact with our interactive UK Solar Savings Calculator or regional postcode search, client-side preferences (such as your selected monthly bill, property size, and battery toggle) may be temporarily stored in your browser's LocalStorage. This happens entirely on your device and is not transmitted to external advertising databases.
vs_cookie_consent (stores your consent choice).C. Performance & Analytics Cookies
OptionalWe use aggregate, privacy-preserving analytics to understand how visitors navigate our directory, which UK counties receive the most solar searches, and to identify broken links or performance bottlenecks. All IP addresses are anonymised, and no individual user profiles are constructed.
D. Advertising & Third-Party Cookies (Google AdSense)
Third-PartyTo keep our independent UK directory 100% free for homeowners without charging paywalls, we display advertisements provided by Google AdSense and accredited energy partners:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites across the web.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info or Your Online Choices UK.
3. How Can You Control or Block Cookies?
You have the right to decide whether to accept or decline cookies. Most modern web browsers allow you to manage your cookie preferences through their settings:
Please note: If you choose to block all cookies (including strictly necessary technical cookies), certain security features or calculator preferences may not function optimally.
4. Updates to This Cookie Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. Please revisit this page regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
